Individual championships

General information

Here we would like to provide you with some help so that you can handle the many different club championship competitions.
The most frequently asked questions concern the tees in the tournament, the prize classification, different numbers of rounds for different players or groups, 9-hole rounds in the middle of the club championship, or the presentation of the prizes on the Internet at the end.

In principle, you should always organise a club championship as 1 tournament.
In Switzerland, even before WHS, it was recommended to always start and calculate with the handicap of the 1st round; with the approach that a player who improves his handicap in the 1st round is not at a disadvantage with regard to the calculation of total points compared to a player who only improves his handicap in the 2nd round.

Important information

With the licensed PC CADDIE version 2024 it is no longer allowed to copy tournament results according to DGV regulations!
In order to also display winners on the results list that are to be added for a 2-round ranking as well as for a 3-round ranking (as often occurs in club championships for seniors), there are new setting options in the individual prizes regarding the „Tick off rounds

Also: Download the latest PC CADDIE update before the start of the club championships!
If you complete each round directly, please ensure that you only start a new HCPI comparison for the following round. If you mistakenly start an HCPI adjustment for the 1st round after completing the 1st round on the following day, the HCPI can no longer be corrected, as according to the DGV specifications, these fields are „greyed out“ and cannot be edited!

Check the following setting!

If your club championship has been newly created, the tick for „always keep HCP of the 1st round“ is automatically set.

In principle, the announcement „may“ state that the entire multi-round competition (regardless of whether several rounds are played on the same day or on several consecutive days) is to be played completely with the HCP of the 1st round.
As it is not possible to obtain a new HCP from the DGV for a 2nd round on the same day (the provisional HCPI is not possible for this!), we recommend always using the HCP of the 1st round for multi-round competitions. You can then close the tournament at the end of the competition for all rounds, which makes no difference to the newly calculated HCPI at the end of the competition, only in the case of net prizes would it make a difference.

If you still want to start each day with the recalculated HCPI, please uncheck the „Always keep 1st round handicaps“ box:
Select „Details“ - to be found next to the game form:

Counting game result over 19 strokes

Entering of hole results
If a „1“ is entered, PC CADDIE waits for a second digit to be entered. Entries of up to 19 strokes per hole are possible. If a higher score than 19 was achieved on a hole higher than 19, enter a point before the number of strokes, e.g. „.20“.

18 and 9 holes in several rounds

Do you want to play 27 holes on 2 days in your club championship, for example? Do you want to play an 18-hole round and a 9-hole round on both days? Then read the following link:
Several rounds with different numbers of holes

Example of an invitation to tender

Example of an invitation to tender for a club championship from 2012
It is played here classically from the YELLOW and RED tees and is not particularly mentioned, as no other tees are rated (please send us a similar current example of a tender to ;-))
Even with the WHS, the procedure is exactly the same:

Solution for the allocation of prizes

Define individual prizes
The prices are not created here with the „Helper“, but manually and individually! Use the person filter for category to categorise your groups!

Create person filter
Please use person filters to delimit the groups. If a clear distinction can be made according to age group, then For the club championship, the person filter can be set via the age groups in most cases. Of course, you can also use the date of birth to categorise your groups.
However, this does not work for the filter menfilter, as some seniors should also be counted in the men's group.
Use for the men: Person filter with enumeration

As soon as your players have been entered in the tournament, check your prize classification by printing the results list (even without results) and checking that all players are listed with the correct prizes.

This is how the prize distribution from our example should look. The CR equalisation is switched off. You set this next to the game form under Details.

Results after 3 rounds

If all 3 rounds have been played and entered, you will see that for those seniors who have already played the 1st round (due to the men's evaluation, which goes over 54 holes), the result of the 1st round is only included in the men's prize (although the seniors' evaluation only includes rounds 2 and 3 - 36 holes).

Example list of a test tournament 36 and 45 holes

Here the 2nd round is played by the men in addition and over 9 holes. Please note the results of the senior „Spangenberger Marc“ who is also rated in the list „Men's overall club champion“.

Tournament conclusion

With the WHS you can also complete all rounds with the handicap of the 1st round, according to the WHS rules.
If you complete each round of the club championship immediately after the end of the round, you will receive the provisional HCPI from the DGV. However, these are not automatically used for the subsequent rounds.
This would require further processing if you do not use „Always keep HCPI of the 1st round“ according to your announcement (please note that new HCPIs are only available on the following day)! Please read =>here

Make absolutely sure that you under no circumstances complete a tournament with the same game results due to additional prize determination (Copying results is also no longer possible since 2024 to prevent duplicate results in the scoring records), after 30 days the reminder of the tournament completion disappears automatically!

If you complete each round, please make sure that you only start a new HCPI comparison (a new „no longer provisional HCPI“ is only provided by the DGV server after a nightly recalculation) for the following round. If you mistakenly start an HCPI adjustment for the 1st round after the completion of the 1st round on the following day, the HCPI can no longer be corrected, as according to the DGV specifications these fields are „greyed out“ and cannot be edited!

Questions about creating the tournament

Set different tees

Bear in mind that the classification of the HCP limit of the tees first for the entire tournament, i.e. for all rounds.
Divide tees

If all players play from different tees in the individual rounds, you can enter them per round:
Set tees for individual rounds

You can also make individual tee settings for each player in the player editor:
Enter player information
Different tees are less useful for comparing players (rating group) for a club championship.

It can also be practical to set the tee for groups in the prize settings, e.g. a different tee for all seniors. This then applies to the entire tournament!

Checking the tee settings

By printing a start list (also per round) and printing the tee, you can check in advance whether the players are being counted from the correct tee. This allows you to check your settings!

Several places in the tournament

Several places in the tournament

For club championships, this is often used by courses that have 27 holes, for example, in which case course A-B can be set for the first round and course B-C for the second round. It is also important here that the setting for the HCP limit of the tees applies to all rounds, or you can set completely different tees for individual rounds.

Switch off CR compensation

As you presumably award individual gross prizes for your groups, CR equalisation (which then applies to other groups) would be incorrect. As you create the prices individually (not with the helper), an automatic setting is not possible!
Switch this off - click on DETAILS next to the game form and then:

Counting game and Stableford mixed

Please also make sure that there is only 1 counting method per player in the prizes - do not set counting game players in net prizes to Stableford calculation, because ONLINE only 1 counting method can be displayed per player!

If, according to your announcement, Stableford is also included in your club championship in addition to the counting method, we recommend that you also differentiate this when allocating prizes to the groups.

It does not necessarily make sense to compare these two types of calculation directly with each other. The order is always determined „over CR“ or „over par“ - For comparison, print the results list with „Gross list layout“.

A good example of a club championship with counting play and Stableford would be, for example, if you also want to enable players with handicaps of 37 to 54 to take part in this event. Players from HCP 37 start with Stableford counting. You set a separate net prize for this group.

Set counting method

In this case, set to: HCP Good Counting, High Stableford and enter „36“ for the limit (up to and including 36, the counting method counting game is used. The handicaps 37-54 are counted as Stableford.

Play-off - Sudden Death

In the event of a play-off, „sudden death“ is usually used in the club championship in the event of a tie:
Sudden death result

2nd round / cutting

Complete the 1st round.

Load players into the 2nd round

To do this, use Load cut from preliminary round

You can of course also enter the same person filters (groups) that you use in the prize classification in the settings for the categories when cutting and thus ensure that the players are loaded into the next round sorted by groups and results.

However, the tournament does not care how you enter the players in the next round, and you have many options available: manually deleting players who are no longer playing (only possible if the next round takes place on the following day), or entering additional players who did not play in another round (see example in the announcement), or using the results list of the 1st round to sort the start list with the buffer (as usual). Load cut from previous round„ is not a prerequisite for calculating the results over several rounds.

Create start list according to results

Create start lists

Save in between! You can use the Undo button to return to an earlier version of the start list at any time!

If you want to ensure that NOTHING is changed in the order in which you have loaded the players (cut from preliminary round) when „sorting and formatting“ the start list for the 2nd round, please switch off all checks, in particular remove the tick next to „Group composition check“. The „Sort within group“ tick can also be removed if necessary (here only the ladies are sorted at the end of the games if ladies and men are mixed in the game).

Of course, you can still make as many manual changes to the start list as you like.
TIP If you start in descending order by result (the best last), have you ever thought about taking a break as soon as the „slow“ field of players has started? To do this, simply change the start time of the 1st flight that is to start after the break manually in the player editor and confirm with „Move everything from here“

People often ask how to print a list with GBE/AGS (evaluated gross score/adjusted gross score) after the 2nd round (or similarly after further subsequent rounds), as this column does not appear in the results list for several rounds (summarised).
Print the results list ONLY for the individual round, e.g. for the 2nd round, by completely unchecking the boxes for total lists when printing, and: don't forget to set them again if you want to print the summary.

Leaderboard display

The „classic“ leaderboard is currently rarely used, as „online live scoring“ is becoming increasingly popular.

You can display all scores on the leaderboard on a screen in the restaurant or clubhouse. To the PC CADDIE Leaderboard
